Imperata cylindrica extract

Prolonged hydration (24-hour moisture)

Sources

Glycerine

Strong humectant evidence. A clinical study using glycerin 5% with hyaluronic acid showed improved hydration and barrier function for up to 24 hours after one use. This formula has 10% glycerine, so hydration support is credible. (PMC)

Sources

Astaxanthin

One of the strongest antioxidant actives with human studies showing improved skin elasticity, wrinkle depth and moisture retention.

Source

Pentylene Glycol

Strong humectant with antimicrobial boosting effects in formulations; supports hydration and preservation systems.

CLINICAL PATCH TEST RESULTS
Finished-product testing by an independent laboratory

The laboratory concluded the sample "induced no reaction of irritation". Its own grading tables also record reactions in a small number of volunteers: a highest single-subject grade of 3.00 at the 96-hour reading (2.00 at the 48 and 72-hour readings), and the 96-hour mean rose to 0.20, so the mean scores are published here exactly as reported rather than rounded away. The study covered one sample of product code SYCL 4 (development name for Berry Thirsty) with no batch reference recorded, and patch testing under occlusion is a stress test, not everyday use.

MEAN DAILY IRRITATION SCORE

Average grade across all 30 subjects at each reading. 0 = no visible reaction, 3 = strongest reaction on the laboratory scale. "Water" is the negative control (deionised water); "SLS 0.3%" is the positive control the laboratory used to prove the test could detect irritation.

Mean Daily Irritation Score (MDIS) as published in the report
ReadingPULP sampleWaterSLS 0.3%
24 hours0.000.000.07
48 hours0.070.000.23
72 hours0.100.000.57
96 hours0.200.000.63

The laboratory's own grading table records a highest single-subject grade of 3.00 for the PULP sample. Statistical comparison in the report found reactions to the positive control significantly higher than to both the negative control and the PULP sample at the 5% level of significance.

MEAN IRRITATION INDEX

The four readings averaged together. Under the report's scale, below 0.30 is classed as not irritating.

Water (negative control)0.00Not Irritating
SLS 0.3% (positive control)0.38Mildly Irritating

WHAT THE LABORATORY CONCLUDED

Results apply to the sample tested under the conditions described above. A patch test measures irritation potential under occlusion in 30 people; it is not a claim to treat, diagnose or prevent any condition, and individual reactions can still differ.
